PSC Approves Sale of Missouri-American Water Company
Small Wastewater Systems
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--- The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved the sale of 19 small wastewater systems owned by Missouri American-Water Company (MAWC) to Confluence Utility Operating Company, Inc.
On August 27, 2024, Confluence and Missouri-American jointly filed an application requesting that the PSC approve the sale of 19 small wastewater systems from MAWC to Confluence. The small wastewater systems are located in Callaway and Morgan counties.
Eighteen of the wastewater systems Confluence will acquire from Missouri-American are in Callaway County: Big Sky Subdivision, Calley Trail, Cedar Hill Subdivision, Dogwood Lane, Evergreen Drive Acres, Golden Ponds, Halifax Road, Hidden Valley, Hillers Creek Lagoon, Hunter’s Creek, Lee Street, Maple Leaf, Ryan’ Lake Subdivision, Southwind Meadows, Sterling Ridge, Stoney Creek, Summit View and the Highlands. One Wastewater System, Ozark Meadows, is in Morgan County.
The PSC order will become effective on August 30, 2025.
The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, steam, manufactured housing and modular units, water and sewer companies, and has limited authority over telephone providers in the state. The Commission ensures the public has access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility service. The Commission must balance the interests of the public – ratepayers – as well as company shareholders.
