Missouri Public Service Commission

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by the Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) which sought Commission approval of an agreement between MAWC and the City of O’Fallon, Missouri (O’Fallon) where MAWC would sell and deliver water to O’Fallon.

According to the application, O’Fallon asked MAWC to provide water service so that O’Fallon can resell the water to its citizens. The application states that MAWC has the water supply available in its St. Charles district for this purpose and is agreeable to providing the water supply desired by O’Fallon.

The agreement between MAWC and O’Fallon provides for an agreed-upon delivery of water from MAWC to O’Fallon from one point of delivery for an initial term of 10 years. Upon expiration of the initial 10 year period, the agreement will automatically renew on a year by year basis.

In a filing with the Commission on April 27, 2023, the Public Service Commission Staff recommended the application be approved stating the agreement between MAWC and O’Fallon is in the public interest.

MAWC provides water service to approximately 474,000 customers in Missouri. It also provides sewer service to approximately 16,500 customers in the state.
