PSC Sets Intervention Deadline for Liberty Fuel Adjustment Clause Request

 

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.---  The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) has set an intervention deadline of October 16, 2026, in cases filed by The Empire District Electric Company d/b/a Liberty requesting an adjustment under its Fuel and Purchased Power Adjustment Clause (FAC).

On October 1, Liberty submitted direct testimony and a tariff designed to implement a true-up and adjustment under its Fuel and Purchased Power Adjustment Clause. The company has requested that the proposed tariff go into effect on December 1, 2026 .

The current period Fuel Adjustment Rate (FAR), for the accumulation period ending August 2026 and the recovery period ending May 2027, is $13,513,865 . Under Liberty's proposed adjustment, a Missouri residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month would see an estimated $3.22 decrease per month over the six-month period from December 2026 through May 2027.

Applications to intervene in this case must be filed with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, or by using the Commission's Electronic Filing and Information System (EFIS) at  www.psc.mo.gov . An application to intervene in a case, if granted by the Commission, will make the applicant a formal party to the case to participate in testimony, filings, hearings, and other portions of the case, as set by the Commission.

While there is a deadline of December 1, 2026, to request intervention in the case, individual citizens wishing to comment on this case can do so at any time throughout the course of the case.
