PSC Approves Agreement In ATXI Case
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement filed by Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) and the Missouri Public Service Commission Staff which grants ATXI a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) to construct, own, operate and maintain certain transmission facilities in, around and between the cities of New Madrid and Sikeston, Missouri.
The Office of the Public Counsel did not sign the agreement, but did not object. The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency that represents the general public in matters before the Public Service Commission.
ATXI stated the CCN and related approvals will enable it to participate in a collaborative effort among ATXI, New Madrid, Sikeston (including the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities) and MJMEUC.
The Commission approved the agreement determining: 1) There is a need for the service; 2) ATXI is qualified to provide the proposed service; 3) ATXI has the financial ability to provide the service; 4) ATXI’s proposal is economically feasible; and 5) The service promotes the public interest.
“The Commission finds that ATXI meets these criteria,” said the Commission. “Thus, the Commission will grant the application, and approve the Stipulation, subject to the conditions agreed upon by the Stipulation’s signatories.”
