Evergy Missouri West Granted CCN for Cass County Generation Facility
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes Evergy Missouri West, Inc. d/b/a Evergy Missouri West to acquire a 22.2% interest in an existing natural gas-fired, combined-cycle electric generation facility (Dogwood Energy Facility), located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri (Cass County). Evergy Missouri West has also been granted a certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) to own, operate, maintain, and otherwise control and manage the Dogwood Energy Facility.
The agreement approved by the Commission was submitted by the Staff of the Missouri Public Service Commission, the Office of the Public Counsel, Renew Missouri Advocates d/b/a Renew Missouri and Evergy Missouri West. The Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission d/b/a Missouri Electric Commission, the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency, the Midwest Energy Consumers Group and the City of Kansas City, Missouri do not oppose Commission approval of the agreement.
“After reviewing the Agreement and the application, the Commission finds that the Agreement is a reasonable resolution of the issues contained therein and will approve it,” said the Commission. “The addition of the Dogwood Energy Facility to Evergy Missouri West’s generation fleet addresses its need for both capacity and energy and will reduce its reliance on purchased power. Thus, the Commission will grant the CCN.”
Evergy Missouri West provides electric service to approximately 340,300 customers in Andrew, Atchison, Barton, Bates, Benton, Buchanan, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Clay, Clinton, Dade, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Holt, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Platte, Ray, St. Clair, Vernon and Worth counties.
