ElectricityCompliance With Federal Environmental Regulations

On August 30, 2011, the Commission directed its Staff to lead a working group to investigate the costs Missouri’s investor-owned electric utilities would likely incur to comply with Federal environmental regulations.  Staff filed its report regarding the investigation on May 2, 2012.  There have been further developments regarding environmental regulations, including recent changes to the Clean Air Act, in particular Sections 111(b) and 111(d) of that Act, regarding greenhouse gas emissions so Staff filed an updated report on April 3, 2014.  In June  2014, the EPA proposed a rule addressing carbon pollution emission guidelines for existing fossil fuel-fired electric generating.  A workshop was held on August 18, 2014 to discuss the cost of compliance with the proposed rule.   Case No. EW-2012-0065
