PSC to Hold Local Public Hearing in Missouri-American Water Company Request to Provide Water and Sewer Service in and around Stewartsville

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing on September 12, 2022, to receive customer comment in a case filed by the Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) which seeks a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) to provide water and sewer service in and around the City of Stewartsville, located in DeKalb and Clinton Counties.  The local public hearing will be conducted virtually by WebEx and telephone conference.  It will also be streamed live on the Commission’s website (psc.mo.gov).

According to the application, MAWC proposes to purchase all of the water and sewer utility assets of the currently unregulated City of Stewartsville system.  On November 2, 2021, voters approved the sale of the City of Stewartsville system to MAWC.

The local public hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on September 12, 2022, with a PSC Staff question-and-answer session with the formal local public hearing following the question-and-answer session.

To attend the virtual public hearing by telephone, at the time of the hearing, call toll-free 1-855-718-6621, listen to the prompt and enter the Access Code (2467 999 4401), followed by # (pound/hashtag symbol).  If prompted for a password, enter 0311.  To participate by video/Internet, visit the website www.webex.com.  You can also download the Cisco WebEx meetings application on your mobile device, laptop, desktop or tablet prior to the hearing and join the meeting at the hearing time by entering the corresponding access code and password listed above.

To facilitate an orderly presentation that can be preserved for the record, members of the public who wish to participate in the hearing should register by sending their first and last name, phone number and email address to watersewercomments@psc.mo.gov or by calling 1-800-392-4211 no later than 5 pm the day before the hearing (September 11, 2022).

MAWC provides water service to approximately 474,000 customers in Missouri.  It also provides sewer service to approximately 16,500 customers in the state.  The City of Stewartsville serves approximately 350 water accounts and 350 sewer accounts.
