PSC Sets Intervention Deadline in
Missouri-American Water Company Cases

JEFFERSON CITY---Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) has filed an amended application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking a certificate of convenience and necessity to install, own, acquire, operate and maintain a water and sewer system in and around Garden City, Missouri (Garden City), in Cass County.

According to the May 7, 2021 application, MAWC seeks to acquire and operate the assets of a municipal water and sewer system in Garden City. MAWC proposes to adopt the water and sewer rates that Garden City charges its customers at the time of closing, until such time as the rates are modified according to law.

On May 28, 2021, MAWC filed an amended application seeking to establish the ratemaking rate base associated with the Garden City water and sewer assets pursuant to Section 393.320, RSMo.

Applications to intervene and participate in these cases must be filed no later than June 23, 2021, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0360, or by using the Commission’s Electronic Filing and Information System (EFIS) at psc.mo.gov.

MAWC provides water service to approximately 470,000 customers in Missouri. It also provides sewer service to approximately 15,000 customers in the state. The City of Garden City currently serves approximately 611 water accounts and approximately 655 sewer accounts.
