PSC Grants Liberty Water Request
to Acquire Water and Sewer Systems
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by Liberty Utilities LLC (Liberty Water) which authorizes Liberty Water to acquire the water and sewer franchises and assets of the Lakeland Heights Water Company, the Oakbrier Water Company, R.D. Sewer Company LLC and the Whispering Hills Water System (Selling Utilities).
Liberty Water proposes to continue to use the existing rates and service charges of the Lakeland Heights Water Company, the Oakbrier Water Company, R.D. Sewer Company LLC and the Whispering Hills Water System until such time as they are changed in a general rate case proceeding.
In a June 4, 2020 filing, the Public Service Commission Staff recommended the application be approved stating Liberty Water has the technical, managerial and financial capacities to acquire and operate the selling utilities. The Commission approved the application finding that the acquisition of assets by Liberty Water is not detrimental to the public interest.
The Lakeland Heights Water Company serves approximately 101 water customers in Wayne County. The Oakbrier Water Company serves approximately 78 water customers in Butler County while the Whispering Hills Water System serves approximately 50 water customers in Wayne County. R.D. Sewer Company LLC serves approximately 176 sewer customers in Stoddard County. Liberty Water serves approximately 7,400 water and/or sewer customers in Missouri.
