PSC Approves Sewer System Asset Transfer
The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application which authorizes the transfer of the sewer system assets of Taney County Utilities Corporation (TCUC) to the Taney County Regional Sewer District (District). Those assets provide sewer service to approximately 53 customers in Taney County near Lakeway Village, Missouri. Under the terms of the transfer, those customers will be served by the Taney County Regional Sewer District.
In this case, it was noted that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued TCUC notices of discharge violations. In a memorandum, the PSC Staff noted that TCUC does not have the resources to keep up with needed plant capacity or to meet environmental regulations. As part of the agreement between TCUC and the District, the District agreed to design and construct a new wastewater treatment plant which is expected to be completed in October of this year.
"Since the District currently serves over 2,300 customers, it is qualified to provide service to TCUC’s customers," said the Commission. "Upon completion of its new wastewater treatment facility, the District will be capable of providing TCUC’s customers reliable service in compliance with DNR guidelines. The Commission finds the proposed transaction is not detrimental to the public interest."
