JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by Rex Deffenderfer Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a RDE Water Company (RDE) authorizing RDE to sell its water system assets to the City of Nixa. The Commission has also granted RDE’s request to have its certificate of service authority and its tariff canceled as RDE will no longer be providing water service in the state.

In an April 25, 2022 filing, the Public Service Commission Staff (Staff) recommended the Commission approve the sale. As part of that recommendation, Staff concluded the City of Nixa is capable of providing service to the existing RDE customers and that the sale and transfer of assets will be beneficial to the customers.

The Commission approved the application determining the proposed transaction is not detrimental to the public interest.

RDE provides water service to approximately 1,232 residential customers and 66 commercial customers through 1,138 service connections in Christian County.
