PSC Approves Missouri-American Water Company Request
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) to sell and deliver water to Chariton County Public Water Supply District #2 (District).
According to the application, the District had requested to purchase water from MAWC at wholesale to be sold and delivered for resale by the District within its boundaries. MAWC stated it has water supply available in its Brunswick District for this purpose and was agreeable to providing the water supply desired by the District.
In a May 13, 2013 filing, the PSC Staff recommended the application be approved.
“The contract is in the public interest,” said the Commission’s order. “MAWC can safely and adequately supply water to District as well as doing the same for its existing customers. The delivery will be from four points and for a term of twenty years. The rate District will pay MAWC under the contract covers MAWC’s net marginal cost of water production for District.”
