PSC Approves Agreement in Timber Creek Sewer Company Rate Case

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.---  Today, the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order approving an agreement and granting Timber Creek Sewer Company’s (TCSC) request to increase its annual sewer operating revenues. TCSC and the Staff of the Commission were signatories to the agreement with the Office of Public Counsel (the ratepayer advocate) indicating that it did not object.

TCSC filed its sewer rate case with the Commission on December 15, 2025, requesting an increase in annual operating revenues of approximately $890,000. The company stated that the increase was primarily related to investment in additional capacity for its Prairie Creek facility, ultraviolet treatment, and other improvements and repairs. TCSC’s last rate increase was in 2011.

Highlights of the Approved Agreement

  • TCSC is authorized to increase annual operating revenues by approximately $425,000, which is less than half of the amount requested.
  • A typical residential customer in Platte County is charged $36.71 per month and Clay County $28.50 per month. The approved rate increase results in a charge of $50.13 per month for both Platte and Clay County customers.
  • TCSC is required to file a rate case not less than once every four years to help ensure rates go into effect gradually. TCSC had not filed a rate case or had a subsequent rate change in over 15 years.
  • The new rates will go into effect as of August 30, 2026.

Timber Creek Sewer Company provides sewer service to approximately 2,520 customers.
