PSC Approves Agreement Reached In W.P.C Sewer Company Rate Case

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes W.P.C. Sewer Company to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $10,670 for service on and after March 4, 2013.  The rate increase is designed to recover the Company’s cost of service, including the installation of an Ultraviolet disinfection system.
When the company filed its rate request with the Public Service Commission on August 14, 2012, it sought to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $14,483.
Under the small company rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company.  After the audit, the PSC staff presented its findings as well as its initial recommendation for resolution of the rate request to the Office of the Public Counsel and the company.  Based upon discussions between the PSC staff and W.P.C. Sewer Company, an agreement was reached which was then filed for Commission consideration.  The Office of the Public Counsel did not join in the agreement but did not oppose the agreement.  The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the PSC.
The current monthly sewer bill for a residential customer is $25.04.  Under the agreement, the sewer bill for that same residential customer will increase to $38.12 a month.
The W.P.C. Sewer Company provides sewer service to approximately 68 customers in Sedalia, Missouri.
