Rates to Change for Liberty Utilities Natural Gas Customers
JEFFERSON CITY---Tariffs filed by Liberty Utilities (Midstates Natural Gas) Corp. d/b/a Liberty Utilities, which will change the natural gas rates of Liberty Utilities customers, are scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2020.
The rate changes reflect the Weather Normalization Adjustment Rider (WNAR) which authorizes rate adjustments based on weather variations. The WNAR projects anticipated gas usage changes due to weather that is either warmer or colder than normal.
Under the WNAR, Liberty Utilities makes adjustments based on the weather twice a year (October and April). Liberty Utilities has had a WNAR since July 2018.
Currently, the WNAR is a reduction for customers in the Northeast and West District. Under the tariffs filed by the natural gas company, those customers will see less of a reduction in the WNAR on their bills. According to the company, there will be an increase in the WNAR for Southeast District customers.
Liberty Utilities serves approximately 53,100 natural gas customers in Missouri. The Northeast and West District service area includes the Missouri counties of Adair, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Macon, Marion, Pike, Ralls, Schuyler, Scotland, Bates, Cass, Henry and St. Clair. The Southeast District service area includes the counties of Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne.
