PSC Approves Change to Empire District Electric Fuel Adjustment Charge
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by The Empire District Electric Company (Empire) to change the fuel adjustment charge (FAC) on the monthly bills of its electric customers.
A residential customer using 1,000 kWh (1,000 kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month currently has an FAC that results in a $1.83 reduction to the monthly electric bill. Under this approved filing, that reduction will be smaller and will reduce the monthly electric bill by approximately $0.38 a month. The net increase will be approximately $1.45 a month.
The change will take effect on December 1, 2012. The FAC reflects the change in Empire’s actual fuel and purchased power costs from its projected fuel and purchased power costs for the six month period of March 2012 through August 2012.
The Empire District Electric Company serves approximately 149,500 electric customers in the Missouri counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Taney.
