Fiscal Year 2018 Assessment
On June 22, 2017, the Missouri Public Service Commission approved its annual utility company assessment for the Fiscal Year 2018, which begins July 1, 2017. The $18,737,792 assessment is levied against specific utility companies regulated by the Commission per Section 386.370 RSMo. Pursuant to HB7, Section 7.185, 2011 Session, the Commission has been charged with collecting an assessment for the Office of Public Counsel which totals $1,606,568. The assessment for the Public Service Commission totals $17,131,224.
The amount per company varies based upon a number of factors such as industry activity for the preceding fiscal year and individual utility company’s gross intrastate operating revenue for the previous calendar year as a percentage of the particular utility industry’s total gross intrastate operating revenue.
Notices will be mailed to each public utility on June 23, 2017. The amount assessed shall be paid in full on or before July 15, 2017. Any public utility may at its election pay the assessment in four equal installments not later than the following dates: July 15, 2017, October 15, 2017, January 15, 2018, and April 15, 2018.
