Consumer Alert

Beware of calls from individuals claiming to be an employee of a utility company. Utilities will not call you asking for immediate payment or personal information over the phone. If you receive this type of a phone call, do not give out any of your personal information. Please hang up the phone and immediately contact your local utility company.

The Missouri Public Service Commission is also aware of calls to consumers saying they are with a state utility commission demanding immediate payment for a delinquent account. Consumers never pay a state utility commission for any type of utility services. If you receive a call from a number that appears to be from the Missouri Public Service Commission, and the caller asks you for money, please hang up the phone and contact the Missouri Public Service Commission hotline at 1-800-392-4211.

Consumers can also report any incidents of consumer scams and fraud by calling the Missouri Attorney General's Consumer Protection hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
