PSC Receives Liberty's Amended Rate Request;
Extends Intervention, Case Deadline

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.---The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) accepted an amended rate filing request from Empire District Electric Company d/b/a Liberty and set new intervention and case decision deadlines.

On Feb. 26, 2025, Liberty amended its prior request for a rate increase in its annual electric revenues. Liberty previously filed a rate increase request on Nov. 6, 2024, for $92.1 million, an increase of 15.99%. The amended request seeks an increase of approximately $152 million, an increase of 29.64%.

Due to the amended filing, the PSC has extended the original deadline to decide the case by 89 days, with a decision now expected by Jan. 2, 2026. The PSC also extended the intervention deadline to March 25, 2025.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than March 25, 2025, at midnight, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, or by using the Commission’s Electronic Filing and Information System (EFIS) at www.psc.mo.gov.
