PSC Approves Electric Territorial Agreement

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by the City of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Ozark Border Electric Cooperative which sought Commission approval of minor modifications and an extension of an electric territorial agreement between the two in Butler County.

A 20 year electric territorial agreement between the City of Poplar Bluff and Ozark Border Electric Cooperative was approved by the Public Service Commission on December 31, 1997 (Case No. EO-98-143). The Commission later approved an application which sought to extend the territorial agreement an additional five years. The Commission approved that request on August 16, 2017 (Case No. EO-2017-0358).

The electric territorial agreement approved by the Commission on June 29, 2022 is for a period of 30 years and makes minor modifications to some aspects of the agreement. The new agreement does not require any current customer of either the City of Poplar Bluff or Ozark Border Electric Cooperative to change their supplier.

“It is the Commission’s decision that the 2022 Territorial Agreement is in the public interest as a whole and is not detrimental to the public interest,” said the Commission.
