Fuel Adjustment Charge to Change for Evergy Missouri West Customers
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an interim tariff filed by Evergy Missouri West, Inc. d/b/a Evergy Missouri West to adjust the fuel and purchased power adjustment clause (FAC) charge on the bills of its electric customers.
In its filing made on July 1, 2022, Evergy Missouri West proposed to adjust the FAC to reflect changes in its fuel and purchased power costs, net of off-system sales revenues incurred by the Company and an updated adjustment for “extraordinary costs” incurred as a result of the midFebruary 2021 cold weather event known as Winter Storm Uri, for the six month period of December 2021 through May 2022.
In that filing, Evergy Missouri West proposed that $31 million of extraordinary fuel costs not pass through its FAC. Evergy Missouri West proposed to defer that amount to a Plant in Service. Accounting (PISA) regulatory asset. Hearings on that issue are scheduled for September 30, 2022, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, in Jefferson City.
On August 31, 2022, Evergy Missouri West filed an interim tariff to reflect fuel adjustment rates consistent with uncontested components of the Company’s proposed fuel adjustment rates which were approved by the Commission on August 24, 2022. The Commission has approved those interim rates.
For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, the FAC will increase by approximately $0.87 a month, to an FAC of approximately $7.37 a month. This change is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2022.
Evergy Missouri West provides electric service to approximately 336,640 customers in the Missouri counties of Andrew, Atchison, Barton, Bates, Benton, Buchanan, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Clay, Clinton, Dade, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Holt, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Pettis, Platte, Ray, St. Clair, Vernon and Worth.
