Change in Liberty Fuel Adjustment Clause to Take Effect in June

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a filing made by The Empire District Electric Company d/b/a Liberty (Liberty) to adjust the fuel adjustment clause (FAC) charge on the bills of its electric customers.

Liberty made two filings with the Commission. In its first filing (Case No. ER-2024-0274), Liberty sought to adjust the FAC charge to reflect the actual energy costs incurred by the Company during the six-month period September 2023 through February 2024. The second filing was Liberty’s FAC true-up (Case No. EO-2024-0276).

For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, the FAC will increase by approximately $0.84 a month. The change will take effect June 1, 2024.

The FAC requires regular adjustments to reflect changes in prices the company has incurred for fuel and for wholesale power purchased to serve customers.

Liberty serves approximately 161,500 electric customers in the Missouri counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Taney.
