On April 30, 2010, the Raytown Water Company filed a rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $471,205.

Under the small company rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company.  After the audit, the PSC staff and the water company meet to discuss the audit.  Based upon those discussions, the PSC staff and Raytown Water Company reached an agreement which recommends a water rate increase of approximately $344,163.  The Office of the Public Counsel, a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the PSC, did not join in the agreement.

The current monthly water bill for a residential customer using 6,000 gallons of water and the proposed monthly bill for that same customer under an agreement reached between the company and the PSC staff appears below.

Type of Customer      Usage              Current Bill                Bill Under Agreement*

Residential             6,000 gallons             $37.50                              $42.06

*This is an agreement between Raytown Water Company and the PSC staff.  The five member Commission decides all cases before it.  The Commission has not decided this case.

The Raytown Water Company serves approximately 6,700 water customers in Raytown, Missouri.
