PR-10-138 -- PSC Approves Transfer Of Assets

Contact: Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- FEBRUARY 5, 2010

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved the transfer of water and sewer system assets of Swiss Villa Utilities, Inc. to the Black Oak Mountain Water Company and the Black Oak Mountain Sewer Company.

Black Oak Mountain Water Company and Black Oak Mountain Sewer Company are separate nonprofit water and sewer entities under the authority of the Black Oak Mountain Resort Property Owners Association.

After a thorough review of the evidence in the case, the Commission determined the proposed transfer would not be detrimental to the public interest.  “In fact, the Commission determines that having a stable and concerned nonprofit corporation controlled by the homeowners association is in the public interest,” said the Commission’s order.

The Black Oak Mountain Water Company and the Black Oak Mountain Sewer Company are not under the jurisdiction of the Missouri Public Service Commission.  Therefore, after the transfer of assets takes place, water and sewer rates will no longer be regulated by the Public Service Commission for Swiss Villa Utilities, Inc. customers.

Swiss Villa Utilities, Inc. serves approximately 139 water and sewer customers in Stone County near Lampe, Missouri.
