What Does The Public Service Commission Do?
The PSC is responsible for regulating the rates, safety and quality
of service of those investor-owned electric, natural gas, water and
sewer utilities. The Commission also has limited authority over
most landline or wireline telecommunication services. The PSC regulates
the operational safety of the state’s rural electric cooperatives and
municipally-owned natural gas utilities. The Commission also
regulates 187 manufacturers and 294 dealers of manufactured homes
or modular units.
Commission Meetings
- Generally, open meetings are held each week at the Commission’s Jefferson City offices.
- The five-member Commission discusses the items on the agenda and votes on whether to approve, deny or modify orders.
- The public is welcome to attend the meetings; they are also webcast.
- Meeting minutes and agendas are posted and archived on the PSC website.
-
Webcasts of previous meetings can also be
viewed.
Case Filing
- The Public Service Commission’s Electronic Filing and Information System (EFIS) provides for the electronic submission of filed documents and online access of documents submitted in formal cases before the Commission.
- Documents are available in Portable Document Format
(PDF) unless otherwise noted.

Finding Cases
- Every case has a docket number assigned to it. The first two letters identify the type of case (i.e. ER for electric rate case); the second set of numbers refers to the fiscal year in which the case was filed; and the third set of numbers indicate the sequential case number of each filing.
- The docket entries are shown in reverse chronological order, meaning the newest items are listed first.
- If you know the number of the case you are interested in, please proceed to the Docket Sheet. Push "enter" after typing in the case number.
