PR-12-78 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In KCP&L Case
Contact: Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DECEMBER 21, 2011
JEFFERSON CITY—Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCP&L) has filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking an Accounting Authority Order (AAO) that would allow the electric company to undertake certain accounting procedures in connection with its electrical operations in relation to the interruption of coal supplied to some of its power plants caused by the 2011 Missouri River flooding.
KCP&L states in its application that it is requesting deferral of the added costs attributable to the Missouri River flooding and the constraints placed on the company’s electric generation due to the limited availability of coal to produce electricity that has caused a significant increase in fuel costs to serve retail customers and a loss of off-system sales margins.
Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than January 9, 2012, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102 or by using the Commission’s electronic filing and information service.
