FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- NOVEMBER 15, 2011
JEFFERSON CITY---Kansas City Power and Light Company (KCPL) has filed a motion with the Missouri Public Service Commission “requesting that the Commission extend its existing authority to sell and trade SO2 emissions allowances to the NOx emissions allowances that will no longer be useable for compliance post-December 31, 2011, and record such sales proceeds in FERC account 254, to be flowed to customers over an amortization period to be determined in the next rate case with the unamortized balance to be used as an offset to ratebase.”
The staff of the Public Service Commission is to file a recommendation regarding its examination and analysis of KCPL’s motion no later than November 18, 2011. In addition, any other party that wishes to file a response to KCPL’s motion, or who seeks a hearing in the matter, must make such a request with the Commission no later than November 18, 2011.
KCPL serves approximately 272,000 electric customers in Missouri.
