FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- NOVEMBER 3, 2011

JEFFERSON CITY---Kansas City Power & Light Company has filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking Commission authority to continue to participate in the Southwest Power Pool beyond October 1, 2013, without a service agreement. 

Kansas City Power & Light’s request comes as part of an interim report filed by the company regarding its participation in the Southwest Power Pool.  The interim report was filed on September 30, 2011.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than November 22, 2011, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.

Kansas City Power & Light Company serves approximately 272,000 electric customers in Missouri.
