FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- OCTOBER 13, 2011

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes Veolia Energy Kansas City, Incorporated (Veolia Energy) to increase annual steam operating revenues by approximately $1,379,200.  The Commission’s vote to approve the agreement was unanimous.

The agreement approved by the Commission was submitted by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, the staff of the Missouri Public Service Commission and Veolia Energy.

Under the agreement, the average increase for Standard Commercial Service tariff customers will be approximately 11.3 percent.  Customers receiving service under the Large Commercial Service tariff will see an average increase of approximately 16.8 percent and Interruptible Heating Service customers will see an average increase of approximately 41 percent.

On April 22, 2011, Veolia Energy filed a steam rate case with the Commission seeking to increase annual steam operating revenues by approximately $1,379,200.  Veolia Energy stated it initiated the rate case because of increased investment in its plant and system, higher fuel prices and other input costs.

Veolia Energy provides service to approximately 54 steam customers in Jackson County.
