PR-11-40 -- PSC Sets Local Public Hearing Schedule In Kansas City Power & Light Company Electric Rate Case

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold local public hearings in November and December to receive customer comment in an electric rate case filed by the Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCPL). Testimony will also be taken from customers of KCP&L-Greater Missouri Operations Company which also has an electric rate case before the PSC. The local public hearing schedule appears below.
November 30—Nevada. Nevada TeleCenter, Lunchroom, 2015 N. West Street. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
December 6—St. Joseph. Missouri Western State University, Leah Spratt Hall, Room 201, 4525 Downs Drive. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
December 7—Kansas City. Two local public hearings will be held at the Cohen Conference Center of the Kansas City Public Library-Plaza Branch, 4801 Main Street.
A PSC staff public information/question and answer session for the first hearing starts at 11:30 a.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
Beginning at the end of the first hearing and until 5:30 p.m., the Commission will have a listening post for the public. PSC staff members will be available to answer questions from the public. Members of the public may also record a video statement during the listening post. A second local public hearing will start at 5:30 p.m. with a PSC staff public information/question and answer session. The local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony will follow.
December 8—Riverside. City Council Chambers, 2950 NW Vivion Road. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 11:30 a.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
December 8—Lee’s Summit. Lee’s Summit North High School, Lecture Hall, 901 NE Douglas Street. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
December 9—Sedalia. State Fair Community College, Thompson Conference Center-Side B, Heckart Science and Allied Health Center Building, 3201 West 16th Street. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
December 13—Carrollton. Carrollton Public Library, Videoconference Center, One North Folger. A PSC staff public information/question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. with the local public hearing and the taking of sworn testimony to follow.
These local public hearings will be held in facilities that meet the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. On June 4, 2010, KCPL filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission stating it was seeking to increase annual electric operating revenues by approximately $92.1 million. According to KCPL, a typical residential customer would see an increase of less than $13 a month under the company’s request.
KCPL serves approximately 271,000 electric customers in 13 western Missouri counties.
