PR-11-34 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In Empire District Electric Company IRP Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- SEPTEMBER 8, 2010

JEFFERSON CITY—The Empire District Electric Company has filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission its 2010 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).  Such a filing is required under Commission rules for all investor-owned electric utilities in Missouri.

The purpose of the IRP rule is to require Missouri’s electric utilities to undertake an adequate planning process to ensure that the public interest in a reasonably priced, reliable, and efficient energy supply is protected.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case should be filed no later than September 15, 2010, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.

The Empire District Electric Company serves approximately 148,000 electric customers in the Missouri counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Taney.
