Contact: Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MAY 4, 2011
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri to adjust the fuel and purchased power adjustment charge (FAC) on the bills of its electric customers.
In its filing, Ameren Missouri stated the proposed adjustment to customer rates reflected changes in its fuel and purchased power costs net of off-system sales revenues experienced during the four month period ending January 31, 2011.
Base electric rates set in the last Ameren Missouri rate case reflect a certain level of fuel and purchased power costs less off-system sales revenue. The FAC reflects increases or decreases in those costs above or below those set in base rates. The FAC is designed to address fuel and purchase power costs and off-system sales revenue volatility.
The adjustment will lower the Rider FAC Adjustment for a residential customer from 0.479 cents per kWh (kilowatt-hour) to 0.419 cents per kWh. A residential customer using 1,100 kWh per month currently pays an FAC of approximately $5.27 a month. That will drop by approximately $0.66 a month to $4.61 a month. The change will take effect on May 25, 2011.
On April 22, 2011, the PSC staff recommended the tariff be approved. No other party opposed the PSC staff recommendation, objected to the tariff, or requested a hearing.
Ameren Missouri serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri.
