FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MAY 4, 2011
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has set the deadline for those wishing to intervene and participate in a steam rate case filed by Veolia Energy Kansas City, Incorporated (Veolia Energy). Veolia Energy provides service to approximately 54 steam customers in Jackson County.
Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than May 11, 2011, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0360.
According to its filing, Veolia Energy is seeking to increase annual steam operating revenues by approximately $1,379,000. Under the proposed rates, the company states the average increase for Standard Commercial Service tariff customers would be approximately 11.3 percent. Customers receiving service under the Large Commercial Service tariff would see an average increase of approximately 16.8 percent and Interruptible Heating Service customers would see an average increase of approximately 41 percent.
Veolia Energy states it initiated the rate case because of increased investment in its plant and system, higher fuel prices and other input costs.
Formal evidentiary hearings in this rate case are scheduled for October 17-28, 2011. These hearings will be held in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Jefferson City.
