PR-10-31 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company IRP Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- AUGUST 7, 2009

JEFFERSON CITY---KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company has filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission its 2009 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).  Such a filing is required under Commission rules for all investor-owned electric utilities in Missouri.

The purpose of the IRP rule is to require Missouri’s electric utilities to undertake an adequate planning process to ensure that the public interest in a reasonably priced, reliable and energy efficient supply is protected.  Both generation and customer energy efficiency programs are evaluated.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than August 26, 2009 with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0360.

KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company serves approximately 308,000 electric customers in Missouri.
