PR-10-176 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In Empire District Electric Case

FOR IMMEDIATE INFORMATION -- MARCH 30, 2010

JEFFERSON CITY---The Empire District Electric Company has filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission for authority to use “construction accounting” for its investments related to the Plum Point Power Generating Unit.  This request will not have an impact on the current Empire rate case.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than April 5, 2010, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.

In its application, Empire states it is a part owner of the 665-megawatt coal-fired Plum Point generating unit now under construction and located near Osceola, Arkansas.

The Empire District Electric Company serves approximately 148,000 electric customers in the Missouri counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Taney.
