FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- FEBRUARY 23, 2010
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an electric territorial agreement between the Ozark Border Electric Cooperative (Ozark Border) and the City of Campbell, Missouri. The Commission has also approved a change of electric supplier for affected customers.
The agreement will allow Ozark Border to become the electric supplier to all structures within the municipal limits of Campbell, Missouri and to transfer the customers of the City outside of the municipal limits to Ozark Border. The agreement also “establishes exclusive service territory for Ozark Border in the City, withdraws and replaces City electric utility service to its citizens, and displaces competition for a period of years.”
The Commission said, “As to efficient facilities, establishing this exclusive service area between the parties will take advantage of power supply, transmission assets, substations, and electric distribution facilities available to provide service in the described area. As members of Ozark Border, the former customers of the City will enjoy the advantages of the efficiencies afforded by Ozark Border’s system and power supply arrangements. The agreement will also make the most effective use of past investment in a substation and distribution facility by Ozark Border while avoiding the necessity of duplicate investment by the City.”
A special municipal election was held on February 2, 2010, during which the voters of the City of Campbell approved the agreement.
