FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- JANUARY 28, 2010
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has adjusted the fuel and purchase power adjustment charge (FAC) as required by a tariff governing Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE.
The FAC rider mechanism, which allows for this adjustment, was adopted in the last AmerenUE rate case and is in no way associated with the pending AmerenUE rate case that is currently before the Commission. The FAC mechanism allows for an adjustment to address fuel and purchase power cost volatility. During the last FAC adjustment, customers received the benefit of reduced fuel costs by realizing a credit on their monthly bills.
AmerenUE stated in its application that the proposed adjustment to customer rates reflects changes in its fuel and purchased power costs net of off-system sales revenues which were experienced during the four month period of June 2009 through September 2009.
The new FAC rider will be approximately $0.15 on the average residential customer’s bill. The current FAC rider is a decrease of approximately $0.40 on the average residential customer’s bill.
On December 23, 2009, the PSC staff filed its recommendation indicating that AmerenUE’s tariff complies with the Commission’s order that established the company’s FAC and with all applicable statutes and regulations. No other party opposed the PSC staff recommendation, objected to the tariff, or requested a hearing.
AmerenUE serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri.
