PR-09-87 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In AmerenUE Electric Fuel And Purchased Power Adjustment Charge Case
Contact: Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DECEMBER 1, 2009
JEFFERSON CITY---Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE has filed a request with the Missouri Public Service Commission to adjust the fuel and purchased power adjustment charge (FAC) on the bills of its electric customers.
In a rate case decision in January, the Public Service Commission determined AmerenUE met the statutory standard to implement a fuel adjustment clause in order to address fuel and purchase power cost volatility. Base electric rates were established in that rate case reflecting a certain level of fuel and purchase power costs. The fuel adjustment clause will reflect increases or decreases in those costs above or below those set in base rates.
AmerenUE states the proposed adjustment to customer rates reflects changes in its fuel and purchased power costs net of off-system sales revenues which were experienced during the four month period of June 2009 through September 2009. AmerenUE states the factors driving the increase include higher fuel costs and lower off-system energy sales revenue due to economic conditions and lower power prices. The electric company says the FAC adjustment request will result in an increase to a typical residential customer’s bill of approximately $0.15 a month.
Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than December 11, 2009, with Steven C. Reed, Secretary, Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0360.
AmerenUE serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri.
