JEFFERSON CITY—Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE has filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking approval of its decommissioning cost estimate and funding level of its nuclear decommissioning trust fund.
AmerenUE’s application seeks to continue the current contribution of approximately $6.48 million to meet the cost of decommissioning the Callaway nuclear power plant. AmerenUE states the current annual contribution amount should not be changed at this time and therefore customer rates should not be affected. AmerenUE’s cost estimate to decommission the Callaway nuclear power plant is approximately $693.9 million.
Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than October 6, 2008, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102. Copies of the application should be sent to: Wendy Tatro, Associate General Counsel, Ameren Services Company, 1901 Chouteau Avenue, P.O. The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in matters before the commission. Individual citizens wishing to comment should contact either the Office of the Public Counsel (Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Suite 650, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230, telephone (866) 922-2959, e-mail opcservice@ded.mo.gov) or the Public Service Commission staff (P.O. AmerenUE filed the application in compliance with commission rules and regulations which require review of the trust fund accruals and the projected costs of decommissioning every three years. These reviews are designed to ensure adequate funding for decommissioning of the power plant.
AmerenUE serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri.
