PR-09-55 -- PSC Sets Hearing Schedule in KCPL Greater Missouri Operations Company Electric Rate Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- SEPTEMBER 18, 2008

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold formal evidentiary hearings starting on April 13, 2009, in an electric rate case filed by Aquila, Inc. d/b/a KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company. 

Hearings, which will be held in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building (200 Madison Street) in Jefferson City, will continue through April 17, 2009 and from April 20, 2009 through April 24, 2009.

The Governor Office Building meets accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.  If any person needs additional accommodations to participate in these hearings, please call the Public Service Commission’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 prior to the hearings.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than October 2, 2008, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.  Copies of the application should be sent to: James M. The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in matters before the commission.  Individual citizens wishing to comment should contact either the Office of the Public Counsel (Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Suite 650, P.O. The Public Service Commission will hold local public hearings to receive customer comment on the rate increase proposal.  The local public hearing schedule will be announced when dates, times and locations are finalized.

On September 5, 2008, Aquila, Inc. d/b/a KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission. According to the application, the electric company seeks to increase its annual electric operating revenues by approximately $66 million in its MPS Division and by approximately $17.1 million in its L&P Division.  According to the company’s press release, a typical Missouri residential customer would see an increase of $12.58 a month (MPS Division) and $10.03 a month (L&P Division).

Aquila, Inc. d/b/a KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company serves approximately 308,000 electric customers in Missouri.
