PR-09-52 -- PSC Sets Hearing Schedule in KCPL Rate Case

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold formal evidentiary hearings starting on March 30, 2009, in an electric rate case filed by Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCPL).
Hearings, which will be held in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building (200 Madison Street) in Jefferson City, will be held through April 3, 2009 and from April 6, 2009 through April 10, 2009.
The Governor Office Building meets accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than October 2, 2008, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. The Public Service Commission will hold local public hearings in this rate request to receive customer comment on the rate increase proposal. The local public hearing schedule will be announced when dates, times and locations are finalized.
On September 5, 2008, KCPL filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission. According to the application, the electric company seeks to increase its annual electric operating revenues by approximately $101.5 million. According to KCPL, a typical Missouri residential customer would see a 16.2 percent increase in rates or approximately $12.27 per month increase in charges.
KCPL serves approximately 271,000 electric customers in western Missouri.
