FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MAY 6, 2009
JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved
an electric territorial agreement between the City of Waynesville and
Laclede Electric Cooperative. The territorial agreement
designates the exclusive service territory for Laclede Electric
Cooperative for one parcel of land in the City of Waynesville and for
certain tracts of unincorporated land in Pulaski County.
According to the joint application, the territorial agreement
applies to new structures and does not require the transfer of any
facilities or customers. The applicants stated the territorial
agreement will prevent future duplication of electric service
facilities and will allow customers to know with certainty the supplier
of their electric service.
On April 29, 2009, the PSC staff filed its recommendation in
favor of the application.
Based upon a review of the application and the PSC staff
recommendation, the Commission approved the territorial
agreement.
The Commission noted that the agreement allows the City of Waynesville
and Laclede Electric Cooperative to make better use of their respective
capital resources and decrease the chances for duplicating facilities
in the future. The agreement also allows residents of the area to
know with certainty the supplier of their electric service.
