JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold eight local public hearings during the first two weeks in March to receive customer comment on electric rate cases filed by Kansas City Power & Light Company and KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company (formerly Aquila, Inc.). Those who testify can comment on either rate case at the local public hearings scheduled below.
March 2-Lee’s Summit. Lee’s Summit North High School, Lecture Hall, 901 NE Douglas Street. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 3-Sedalia. State Fair Community College, Thompson Conference Center-Side A, Heckart Science and Allied Health Center, 3201 West 16th Street. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 4-St. Joseph. Missouri Western University, Spratt Hall-Room 201, 4525 Downs Drive. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 5-Marshall. Saline County Career Center, Room 2 (the ITV room), 900 West Vest. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 9-Carrollton. Carrollton Public Library, Videoconference Center, 1 North Folger. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 11-Nevada. Nevada TeleCenter, Cafeteria, 2015 N. West Street. Question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
March 12-Kansas City. Two local public hearings at the Kansas City Public Library-Plaza Branch, Cohen Conference Center, 4801 Main Street.
The first local public hearing question and answer session will start at 11:30 a.m. The local public hearing will start at noon and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
The second local public hearing question and answer session starts at 5:30 p.m. The local public hearing will start at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until all of those who wish to testify have done so.
These local public hearings will be held in buildings that meet accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. On September 5, 2008, KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission. The company seeks to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $66 million in the area formerly served by Aquila Networks-MPS (for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, the proposed increase would be approximately $12.50 a month). The company seeks to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $17 million in the area formerly served by Aquila Networks-L&P (for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, the proposed increase would be approximately $10.00 a month). KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company provides electric service to approximately 300,000 customers in Missouri.
On September 5, 2008, Kansas City Power & Light Company filed an electric rate case with the Missouri Public Service Commission. The company seeks to increase annual electric revenues by approximately $102 million (17.5%). For the average residential customer, the increase would be approximately $14.00 a month. Kansas City Power & Light Company serves approximately 271,000 electric customers in western Missouri.
