PR-09-142 -- Intervention Deadline Set In Electric Territorial Case
Contact: Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- FEBRUARY 5, 2009
JEFFERSON CITY---The Empire District Electric Company and White River Valley Electric Cooperative have filed a joint application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking commission approval of a territorial agreement.
According to the application, the agreement specifically designates the boundaries of three exclusive electric service areas within portions of Taney County near Branson. The application states the agreement does not require the transfer of any facilities or customers.
The applicants state the agreement is not detrimental to the public interest because establishment of exclusive service territories will prevent future duplication of electric service facilities, will allow electric service customers within the areas to know with certainty the supplier of their electric service, and will allow the applicants to avail themselves of prior investment and planning for serving the public.
Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than March 6, 2009, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102. Copies of the application should be sent to: Dean L. Cooper and Brian T. McCartney, Brydon, Swearengen & England P.C., 312 East Capitol Avenue, P.O. Box 456, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102; Christiaan D. Horton, Neale & Newman, LLP, 1949 E. Sunshine, Suite 1-130, Springfield, Missouri 65808-0327; and the Office of the Public Counsel, Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230.
The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency that represents the general public in matters before the commission. Individual citizens wishing to comment should contact either the Office of the Public Counsel (Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Suite 650, P.O.
