PR-08-135 -- PSC Sets Intervention Deadline In AmerenUE/Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative, Inc. Case

Contact:  Kevin Kelly (573) 751-9300

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – APRIL 3, 2008

JEFFERSON CITY—Union Electric Company d/b/a AmerenUE and Pemiscot-Dunklin Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Pemiscot-Dunklin) have filed a joint application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking commission authority to transfer approximately 2,700 Dunklin County customers from AmerenUE to Pemiscot-Dunklin.  Affected customers live in the communities of Cardwell, Arbyrd, Senath, Hornersville and Hollywood.

To accomplish the transfer, the joint applicants seek commission approval of their request for a change in electric supplier for those customers, approval for the sale of certain AmerenUE assets to Pemiscot-Dunklin and approval of a territorial agreement between the applicants.

The joint applicants state the transfer is in the public interest because it will improve electric service reliability, will provide emergency personnel certainty in knowing which utility serves a particular facility, will permit AmerenUE and Pemiscot-Dunklin to prudently employ their capital resources, will limit the duplication of facilities and will improve efficiency by decreasing travel time to operate and maintain facilities, which will result in shorter outage periods.

Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than April 21, 2008 with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.  Copies of the application should be sent to: Wendy Tatro, Esq., Ameren Services Company, P.O. Box 66149, St. Louis, Missouri 63166-6149; John Dalton, Jr., Esq., 203 College Street, P.O. Box 529, Kennett, Missouri 63857-0529; General Counsel, Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102; and the Office of the Public Counsel, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230.
