PR-08-127 -- MEDIA ADVISORY: Hearing Schedule Set In Aquila Merger Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MARCHm 12, 2008

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold hearings starting in April in a merger case involving Aquila, Inc.

Hearings are scheduled for April 21-25, April 28-May 2 and May 5-7, 2008. These hearings will be held in the commission’s offices located in the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, Jefferson City. The Governor Office Building meets the accessibility standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Any person who needs additional accommodations to participate in the hearings should call the Public Service Commission’s Hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 prior to the hearings.

Great Plains Energy Incorporated, Kansas City Power & Light Company and Aquila, Inc. seek Missouri Public Service Commission authority for a series of transactions whereby Aquila will become a direct, wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Plains Energy.

Great Plains Energy is the holding company for Kansas City Power & Light Company and for Strategic Energy, L.L.C., a competitive electricity supplier located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Aquila, Inc. provides electric service to approximately 235,500 customers in its MPS service area and to approximately 64,500 electric customers in its SJLP service area. Aquila provides steam service to seven industrial steam customers.
