FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MARCH 6, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a territorial agreement between The Empire District Electric Company (Empire) and Ozark Electric Cooperative (Ozark) which designates the provider of electric service at Shuyler Ridge which is located just south of the Republic in Greene County.
The commission’s decision also approves the transfer of assets between the two companies and approves a change in the electric supplier for approximately thirty-two structures.
“Based on the findings of fact and conclusions of law it has made, the Commission concludes that the Agreement proposed by Empire and Ozark in total is not detrimental to the public interest and should be approved,” said the commission.
The commission noted that approving the agreement, the transfer of assets and change of supplier would avoid potential duplication of facilities and avoid patchwork service within Shuyler Ridge. In addition, it would allow electric customers within Shuyler Ridge to know with certainty the supplier of their electric service.
“The Commission finds that Ozark is capable of adequately and safely providing the electric power supply, service, and maintenance needs of the customers in its service areas as designated in the Agreement, including the approximately thirty-two customers for whom a change of service is requested,” the commission said.
