PSC To Hold Local Public Hearing In Terre Du Lac Rate Cases

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold a local public hearing in Bonne Terre, Missouri on April 15, 2014, to receive public comment on water and sewer rate cases filed by Terre Du Lac Utilities Corporation.  The local public hearing schedule appears below.
April 15—Bonne Terre.  Bonne Terre City Hall, Council Chambers, 118 North Allen Street.  A question and answer session will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the taking of sworn testimony from customers to follow.
This local public hearing will be held in a facility that meets the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Any person who needs additional accommodations to participate in the hearing should call the PSC’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 before the local public hearing.
On October 21, 2013, Terre Du Lac Utilities Corporation filed rate cases with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $32,745 and annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $39,300.
Under the small rate case process, the PSC Staff audits the books and records of the company.  After the audit, the PSC Staff presents its findings as well as its initial recommendation for resolution of the rate requests to the Office of the Public Counsel and the company.  Based upon discussions between the PSC Staff, the Office of the Public Counsel and the company, the PSC Staff and Terre Du Lac Utilities Corporation reached an agreement in the rate cases.  The Office of the Public Counsel has not joined in the agreement.  The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the Commission.
Under the agreement, annual water operating revenues would increase by approximately $38,520 and annual sewer operating revenues would increase by approximately $73,985.
For a residential customer using 4,500 gallons of water a month, the agreement would increase the monthly water bill from $14.77 to $17.28, an increase of $2.51 a month.  Under the agreement between the PSC Staff and the company, sewer bills for residential customers would increase from $15.83 a month to $20.76 a month, an increase of $4.93 a month.
Terre Du Lac Utilities Corporation provides water service to approximately 1,286 customers and sewer service to approximately 1,245 customers in St. Francois and Washington counties.
