PSC Approves Agreement Reached In Meramec Sewer Company Rate Case
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes the Meramec Sewer Company to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $103,466 for service on and after October 7, 2012. The rate increase is designed to recover the Company’s cost of service. Sewer rates were last changed in September 1984.
When the company filed its rate request with the Public Service Commission on March 20, 2012, it sought to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $140,000.
Under the small company rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company. After the audit, the PSC staff and the company met to discuss the results. Based upon those discussions, the PSC staff and Meramec Sewer Company reached an agreement which was then filed for Commission consideration. The Office of the Public Counsel did not join in the agreement but did not oppose the agreement. The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the PSC.
The current monthly sewer bill for various customer classes and the monthly sewer bill for those customers under the agreement approved by the Commission appear below:
Customer Current Monthly Bill New Monthly Bill
Single Family Residential $16.76 $26.33
Mobile Home Service $15.08 $23.70
