PSC Approves Agreement Reached In House Springs Sewer Company Rate Case
JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes the House Springs Sewer Company to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $133,654 for service on and after March 15, 2013. The rate increase is designed to recover the Company’s cost of service.
When the company filed its rate request with the Public Service Commission on May 30, 2012, it sought to increase annual sewer operating revenues by approximately $125,000.
Under the small company rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company. After the audit, the PSC staff presented its findings as well as its initial recommendation for resolution of the rate request to the Office of the Public Counsel and the company. Based upon discussions between the PSC staff, the Office of the Public Counsel and the House Springs Sewer Company, an agreement was reached which was then filed for Commission consideration. The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the PSC.
The current monthly sewer bill for a single family is $29.00. Under the agreement, the sewer bill for that same customer will increase to $37.43 a month.
The current monthly sewer bill for mobile homes in parks and multi-family dwellings is $27.00. Under the agreement, the sewer bill for that same customer will increase to $34.85 a month.
The House Springs Sewer Company serves approximately 1,178 sewer customers in Jefferson County near House Springs, Missouri.
